Veteran Nollywood actress Tina Mbah has offered candid advice to her colleagues in the Nigerian film industry who find themselves torn between pursuing their acting careers and fulfilling marital obligations.

Speaking during a recent episode of "Lights, Camera – It's My Turn," Mbah emphasized the importance of not abandoning one's professional aspirations for marriage, drawing from her personal experiences as a mother of two who successfully maintained her acting career.

"He met you an actor, he married you an actor, there was no issue of you are going to leave this job because I am insecure or because we need to raise our children," Mbah stated, highlighting the importance of clear communication before marriage.

The actress cautioned her colleagues to be vigilant about warning signs from potential spouses who might not support their careers after marriage. "See, the signs are always there. Don't ignore it. Watch him, watch her," she advised.

Mbah further suggested that actors should have explicit discussions with their partners about career expectations before marriage, even recommending a formal understanding: "You need to have a discussion with the person. If need be, you need to sign an undertaking that you would not make me leave my career. Because did he leave his job?"

While acknowledging the importance of marriage, the veteran actress emphasized that it should not come at the expense of one's professional identity. "Marriage is important but nobody put a gun to my head or to your head to do it. There are so many people in this world. If this didn't work, another may work," she remarked.

Mbah concluded her advice by encouraging authenticity in relationships: "You will meet a soulmate, someone who will be supportive. Just be true to yourself. Don't go for the dazzles, be an antique babe like me."

Her comments come at a time when many female actors in Nollywood continue to face challenges balancing successful careers with family responsibilities, often facing pressure to prioritize domestic roles over professional ambitions.
