Barcelona goalkeeper Wojciech Szczęsny has expressed admiration for Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappe following Sunday's thrilling 4-3 El Clásico victory for the Catalan giants.

Despite Barcelona's win, Mbappe showcased his exceptional talent by netting a hat-trick against Szczęsny, continuing his impressive scoring record against the Polish goalkeeper.

Speaking to the media after the match, Szczęsny highlighted Mbappe's remarkable scoring record against him. "Honestly I admire Mbappe's mentality. Even though things are really tough for his team, he doesn't give up," the former Juventus goalkeeper said.

"I think he's the player that has scored the most goals against me. In 4 or 5 matches, he has scored 8 or 9 goals against me," Szczęsny revealed, acknowledging the Frenchman's consistent ability to find the net when facing him.

The Barcelona shot-stopper has managed just two victories in his five encounters with the France international, highlighting Mbappe's dominance in their personal duels despite Sunday's result favoring Barcelona.

In other news regarding Szczęsny's future at Barcelona, the goalkeeper disclosed that the club has offered him a new two-year contract extension. However, he emphasized that the final decision would be made after consulting with his family, particularly his wife, Marina Luczenko-Szczesna.

"I won't hide that I was offered a new two-year deal. However, I need to discuss it with my family to determine what's best for us. I have to make this decision for my family, for my wife, and we will decide together," Szczęsny explained.

With a touch of humor, he added, "There is no decision yet. Most of the decisions at home are made by my wife, and I'm not ashamed of that in the slightest."

The thrilling El Clásico victory keeps Barcelona in a strong position in the LaLiga title race, while Real Madrid will need to regroup after this setback despite Mbappe's individual brilliance.
