President Bola Tinubu on Monday administered the oath of office to newly appointed Commissioners of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and members of the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) board at the State House in Abuja.
The swearing-in ceremony took place shortly before the commencement of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting, which was chaired by the President.
The two new INEC Commissioners who took the oath of office are Mallam Tukur Abdulrazaq Yusuf, representing the Northwest geopolitical zone, and Professor Sunday Nwambam Aja, representing Ebonyi State.
Additionally, President Tinubu swore in two members of the Code of Conduct Bureau board. They are Ikpeme Kenneth Ndem from Cross River State and retired Justice Buba Ibrahim Nyaure from Taraba State.
The appointment of these officials comes as Nigeria continues to strengthen its electoral and ethical governance institutions. The Independent National Electoral Commission is responsible for organizing elections in Nigeria, while the Code of Conduct Bureau oversees the behavior of public officers to ensure compliance with the code of conduct.
The swearing-in of these officials is expected to bolster the operational capacity of both INEC and the CCB as they carry out their constitutional responsibilities.
