Chief Press Secretary to Abia State Governor Alex Otti, Ukoha Njoku Ukoha, has revealed that there were rumours of live animals being buried inside the new Government House in Abia State before the current administration took office.

Speaking during a live program on Family Love FM Umuahia this week, Ukoha disclosed that there were strong rumours claiming that live cows, vultures, and tortoises were allegedly buried inside the new Government House premises. He also mentioned rumours of incantations allegedly made with the intention of eliminating the Governor.

"Before now, there were rumours that cows, vultures and tortoises were buried inside the government house and other incantations with the intention of eliminating the Governor when he was newly elected. That is the rumour that we heard," Ukoha stated during the program.

The Chief Press Secretary emphasized that while the current administration did not believe in these stories and treated them as mere rumours, he expressed concern about the intense pressure being mounted by some opposition members for Governor Otti to move into the new Government House.

"I hope it is not what I am thinking. Why is this coming from the same people? Move to the Government House, move to the Government House... I am beginning to think up the whole thing about why this pressure to go to the government house," he wondered.

Ukoha further clarified that Abians are more concerned about good governance being delivered by Governor Otti rather than where the Governor operates from. He informed listeners that massive reconstruction work is currently ongoing at the old Government House, including renovations at the Secretary to the State Government's office and the Government House clinic.

The Governor's spokesperson also highlighted some of the administration's achievements, including the completion of the long-abandoned Port Harcourt Road and the rehabilitation of several roads in Aba that were previously in deplorable conditions.

Governor Otti, who assumed office in May 2023, has been operating from a different location rather than the new Government House, a situation that has drawn criticism from opposition figures in the state.
