Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has expressed his excitement over recent developments in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), particularly praising the league's management for synchronizing its calendar with top football leagues around the world.
Speaking at the trophy presentation ceremony in Ikenne, Governor Abiodun lauded the NPFL board, led by Hon. Gbenga Elegbeleye, for successfully adjusting the league's timeframe to align with global football calendars.
"While the champions, our own Remo Stars from Ogun State was crowned on Sunday, there is just one more game to conclude the season which means the season will be shutting down this May just as will be the case with most European leagues. This is commendable," Abiodun remarked.
The governor further acknowledged the NPFL leadership for organizing a successful trophy celebration, stating: "It is to the credit of the NPFL board led by my brother, Elegbeleye that we had this beautiful trophy celebrations with all stakeholders united in agreement that we have a worthy winner in Remo Stars."
Remo Stars, based in Ikenne, Ogun State, secured their first-ever NPFL title with a game to spare, marking a historic achievement for the club. The Sky Blue Stars will complete their triumphant campaign with a final match against Bayelsa United.
The club has already held a title parade in Ikenne to celebrate their remarkable achievement with fans and supporters across the state.
