The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring corps members make significant positive impacts in their host communities throughout their service year.

This assurance was given by the NYSC Director General, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, during the closing ceremony of the 2025 Batch 'A' Stream 1 orientation course held in Bauchi on Tuesday. The DG was represented at the event by the NYSC Bauchi State Coordinator, Rifkatu Yakubu.

Brigadier General Nafiu praised the corps members for demonstrating exemplary qualities during their three-week orientation camp, noting that such attributes are crucial for a successful service year.

"By your show of maturity, patriotism, commitment, discipline, and tolerance, I am confident that your time on camp has been worthwhile and that you will positively impact your host communities," he stated.

The Director General urged the corps members to quickly adapt to their places of primary assignment, respect local customs and traditions, and strive to improve their host communities through meaningful community development initiatives.

"Settle down quickly at your places of primary assignment, respect the customs and culture of your host communities, obey local rules, and ensure you leave those communities better than you met them through your community development efforts," he advised.

A total of 1,600 corps members, comprising 717 males and 883 females, have been deployed across Bauchi State for their one-year national service. These young Nigerians are expected to contribute to various sectors including education, healthcare, agriculture, and infrastructure development in their host communities.

The NYSC scheme, established in 1973, continues to serve as a platform for national integration, skills development, and community service among Nigerian graduates.
