The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has officially announced that the 2025 Batch 'A' Stream II Orientation Course will commence soon across all 37 NYSC Orientation Camps nationwide.
In a statement signed by Caroline Embu, Acting Director of Information and Public Relations, the NYSC advised prospective corps members, parents, and guardians to regularly monitor the organization's official social media channels for updates regarding the forthcoming exercise, including the exact commencement date which will be announced in due course.
Meanwhile, the NYSC has expressed concerns over the high rate of corps members relocating from Edo State to other states. Mrs. Frances Ben-Ushie, the Edo State Coordinator, highlighted this issue during the swearing-in ceremony of the 2025 Batch 'A' Stream I corps members.
According to Ben-Ushie, the mass relocation is primarily attributed to two factors: the lack of feeding augmentation during the orientation course and the non-payment of state allowances to serving corps members in Edo State.
"The lack of feeding augmentation during the orientation course, as well as non-payment of State allowance to serving corps members, has resulted in massive relocation of corps members to other states," she stated.
The NYSC scheme, which remains a mandatory one-year national service program for Nigerian graduates, continues to face various challenges across different states, with the situation in Edo State highlighting some of the welfare concerns affecting corps members.
Prospective corps members for the upcoming Batch 'A' Stream II are advised to prepare adequately for their service year and stay informed through official NYSC communication channels for the most accurate and timely information.
