Nigeria has been officially announced as the host country for the 2025 All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA), with Lagos State set to welcome the prestigious continental music celebration from November 25 to 30, 2025.

The announcement was made on Tuesday by the African Union Commission (AUC) and the International Committee of AFRIMA during a ceremony at the African Union headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The event will be held under the theme 'Unstoppable Africa'.

Angela Martins, Director for Social Development, Culture and Sport at the AUC, praised Lagos for its "consistent excellence in hosting major international events" while explaining the selection of Nigeria's commercial capital as the host city.

"Lagos has the right mix of modern facilities, strong media presence, security and transport systems, and good hospitality that make it ideal for hosting a major global event," Martins stated.

According to the organizers, entry submissions for AFRIMA 2025 will commence on May 27 and close on August 8, 2025, giving African artists across the continent and diaspora over two months to submit their works for consideration.

The 2025 edition promises to be a grand affair, featuring over 1,600 nominees and 2,300 production crew members. The event is expected to attract more than 60,000 visitors and delegates to Lagos during the six-day celebration of African music and culture.

In terms of global reach, AFRIMA 2025 is estimated to attract more than 400 million viewers worldwide through live broadcasts on 109 television stations across 84 countries, significantly boosting Nigeria's cultural visibility on the international stage.

This announcement marks another milestone for Nigeria in hosting continental entertainment events, reinforcing the country's position as a cultural powerhouse in Africa's creative industries.
