A man identified as Abubakar Abdulsalam has been remanded in prison custody for allegedly defiling a 12-year-old boy and two young girls in Adamawa State.
Abdulsalam, a resident of Yolde Pate in Yola South Local Government Area, is accused of sexually abusing two girls aged eight and 10 years, in addition to the 12-year-old boy.
According to information gathered on Tuesday, the incidents occurred at separate times in Yolde Pate last month.
The Chief Magistrate Court II in Yola ordered Abdulsalam's remand at a correctional facility after he was charged with defilement and unnatural offence, contrary to sections 263 and 211 of the Adamawa State Penal Code Law 2018.
Prosecuting Police Officer, Inspector Ibrahim Aliyu, presented the charges against the suspect in his first information report (FIR).
The case adds to growing concerns about child sexual abuse in Nigeria, where authorities continue to grapple with protecting vulnerable minors from such crimes.
As of the time of this report, further details regarding the court proceedings and the suspect's plea were not immediately available.
