Operatives from the Ketu Police Division have successfully thwarted a robbery attempt and apprehended a 28-year-old suspect in Lagos State. The incident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, May 13, 2025, along the Mile 12 Bridge.
The suspect, identified as Olayinka Oluwaseyi, was caught while attempting to rob a motorist at approximately 1:30 a.m. According to police reports, Oluwaseyi was armed with two knives at the time of his arrest. A patrol team from the Ketu Division responded swiftly to the situation, preventing the robbery from being carried out.
Authorities revealed that one accomplice managed to escape the scene and is currently being pursued by law enforcement officers. Preliminary investigations have uncovered that Oluwaseyi was recently released from prison after serving time for a similar offence, indicating a pattern of criminal behavior.
The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Olohundare Jimoh, has commended the officers for their timely intervention and professionalism. In his statement, the Commissioner praised the Ketu Division for their vigilance that led to the arrest.
"The Lagos State Police Command maintains a zero-tolerance approach to all forms of criminality, particularly traffic-related robberies," CP Jimoh stated, reassuring Lagos residents that ensuring public safety remains a top priority for the Command.
The suspect is currently in police custody and will face arraignment once ongoing investigations are concluded. This arrest highlights the continued efforts by Lagos State Police to combat the menace of traffic robberies that have been a concern for motorists, especially during late hours.
