The traditional title holder of Madawakin Fawa of Faskari, Malam Sani Dandada, has been found dead after being held captive by kidnappers, despite his family paying the full ransom demanded for his release.

Dandada was abducted on April 19, 2025, while returning from Daura in Katsina State. His death was confirmed on Friday by security analyst Bakatsine in a post on the social media platform X.

"Malam Sani Dandada, the Madawakin Fawa of Faskari who was kidnapped while returning from Daura on 19th April, was killed by the bandits after collecting ransom," the security analyst stated.

The tragic development comes as a shock to the community, as the payment of ransom typically leads to the release of kidnap victims. However, in this case, the bandits still took the traditional ruler's life despite receiving payment.

As of the time of this report, local authorities have yet to issue an official statement regarding the incident. The amount paid as ransom was not disclosed.

This incident adds to the growing concern over insecurity in northwestern Nigeria, where kidnapping for ransom has become increasingly common. Bandits have targeted various individuals, including traditional rulers, government officials, students, and ordinary citizens.

The killing of Dandada despite ransom payment raises questions about the effectiveness of financial negotiations with kidnappers and highlights the increasingly violent nature of banditry in the region.

More details are expected as authorities investigate the circumstances surrounding his death.
