Four farmers have been abducted by suspected bandits in Tudun Moriki, Zurmi Local Government Area of Zamfara State, as insecurity continues to plague rural communities in Nigeria's northwest region.

According to security sources who spoke to Zagazola Makama, the abduction occurred around 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 15, 2025, while the victims were working on their farmlands.

The armed assailants reportedly stormed the farms in a surprise attack before taking the victims to an undisclosed location. The identities of the abducted farmers have not yet been revealed by authorities.

In response to the incident, security forces have quickly mobilized, launching a rescue operation to locate the victims. Efforts are also underway to track down and apprehend the perpetrators responsible for the kidnapping.

This latest abduction adds to the growing concerns about insecurity in Zamfara State, where bandits have repeatedly targeted rural communities, disrupting agricultural activities and threatening livelihoods.

The Zurmi Local Government Area has experienced several security challenges in recent months, with previous incidents of kidnappings and attacks reported in the region. Earlier this year, members of the House of Representatives called for urgent military deployment to Zamfara State to address the deteriorating security situation.

As of the time of this report, no group has claimed responsibility for the abduction, and there has been no demand for ransom. Authorities have urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to security agencies.

BenriNews will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as more information becomes available.
