Former Real Madrid midfielder Alvaro Benito has launched a scathing attack on Vinicius Junior following the Brazilian's performance in Real Madrid's 4-3 defeat to Barcelona in Sunday's El Clasico encounter.

Benito did not mince words in his assessment, describing Vinicius' display as "disgraceful" and "unspeakable" while calling for the forward to be substituted during the match at Camp Nou.

"What Vinicius did is unspeakable. It's a disgrace, it's a disgrace. Take him off, take him off, take him off," Benito said, as reported by Tribal Football.

The former midfielder's criticism extended beyond the single performance, as he also took issue with Vinicius reportedly refusing to be substituted after initially requesting to come off.

Benito also issued a warning to Xabi Alonso, who is rumored to be in line to replace current Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti, suggesting that significant work would be needed to address attitude problems within the squad.

"The coach who comes in has a lot of work to do, changing the mentality of some players. You can't play football like Vinicius, defending with his eyes, avoiding returns, not marking, not pressing," Benito added.

The defeat to Barcelona has dealt a significant blow to Real Madrid's LaLiga title hopes, with their rivals gaining crucial ground in the championship race.

Vinicius, who has been one of Real Madrid's standout performers in recent seasons, will now face increased scrutiny as the team looks to bounce back from this disappointing El Clasico result.
