Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have arrested 17 suspected internet fraudsters in a coordinated sting operation across multiple locations in Kwara State.

The arrests, which took place on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, were carried out in Asa Dam, Al-Hikmah University area, and Gaa-Odota areas of Ilorin, as well as in Ganmo and Amoyo areas of Ifelodun Local Government Area.

According to the EFCC, the operation was based on actionable intelligence that linked the suspects to fraudulent internet activities within the state. During the arrests, authorities recovered three luxury vehicles, high-end mobile phones, and laptop computers from the suspects.

This latest crackdown follows a similar operation conducted last week, where 47 suspects were apprehended in the same areas on similar charges of internet fraud.

The anti-graft agency has stated that investigations are ongoing, and the suspects will be arraigned in court once investigations are concluded.

This arrest represents part of the EFCC's continued efforts to combat the rising tide of internet fraud and cybercrime in Nigeria, particularly in Kwara State where several operations have been conducted in recent months.
