Cristiano Ronaldo has publicly expressed his pride after his eldest son, Cristiano Jr., made his debut for Portugal's Under-15 national team during a tournament in Croatia.
The 14-year-old youngster came off the bench as Portugal claimed a convincing 4-1 victory over Japan in their opening match of the tournament. The young Selecao's performance was highlighted by Rafael Cabral, who stood out during the game.
Following the match, the Al Nassr captain took to social media to celebrate his son's international debut, writing: "Congratulations on your debut by @selecaoportugal, son. Very proud of you!" The five-time Ballon d'Or winner included a picture of his son in the post.
Cristiano Jr. was accompanied to the tournament by his grandmother, Maria Dolores, while his father continues his professional career with Al Nassr in Saudi Arabia.
What makes the young Ronaldo's call-up particularly notable is that he is currently the only player from outside Europe in Portugal's U15 squad. The teenager is presently developing his skills in Al Nassr's academy team, following in his father's footsteps.
Cristiano Jr. will be hoping to feature in Portugal's upcoming fixtures against Greece and England as the tournament progresses.
The debut marks a significant milestone in the youngster's development, as he begins to forge his own path in international football while carrying the weight of his father's legendary name.
