Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has stated that Xabi Alonso does not need his advice regarding coaching the Spanish giants, as the former midfielder prepares to take over at the Bernabeu.
Alonso, who has confirmed he will leave Bayern Munich at the end of the current season, has reportedly agreed to a three-year contract with Real Madrid to become their new manager ahead of next season.
Speaking at a press conference ahead of Real Madrid's LaLiga clash with Mallorca on Wednesday, Ancelotti expressed his confidence in Alonso's coaching abilities.
"Xabi Alonso doesn't need any advice from me as he's a great manager," Ancelotti said. "He has everything to become a top, top coach."
The transition comes as Ancelotti is set to leave Real Madrid this summer to take over the Brazil national team head coaching position. The Italian tactician's departure opens the door for Alonso, who previously played for Real Madrid during his illustrious career.
Alonso has built a strong reputation as a manager following his impressive work with Bayern Munich, where he has demonstrated tactical acumen and leadership skills that have caught the attention of his former club.
The appointment represents a homecoming for Alonso, who enjoyed a successful spell as a player at Real Madrid between 2009 and 2014, winning several major trophies including the Champions League.
Real Madrid fans will be hoping that Alonso can continue the club's tradition of success as they prepare for this significant managerial transition in the coming months.
