Morocco has secured their place in the quarter-finals of the ongoing African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2025 tournament after a convincing 3-1 victory over DR Congo on Sunday.
The Atlas Lions become the fourth nation to advance to the knockout stage, joining Kenya, Madagascar, and Tanzania who had already qualified earlier in the competition.
With the win, Morocco finished second in Group A with 9 points from four matches, just behind group leaders Kenya who accumulated 10 points from the same number of games.
Despite a respectable campaign, DR Congo's journey in the tournament has come to an end as they finished third in the group with 6 points, insufficient to secure one of the two qualifying spots.
Angola and Zambia occupy the fourth and fifth positions in Group A with 4 points and 0 points respectively, both eliminated from the competition after their four matches.
The CHAN tournament, which features players exclusively from domestic leagues across Africa, continues to showcase emerging talent from the continent as the competition progresses to its decisive stages.
Morocco, the 2018 CHAN champions, will be looking to reclaim their title as they advance to the quarter-finals, where they will face one of the qualified teams from the other groups.
