The All Progressives Congress (APC) has emerged victorious in the recently concluded supplementary election for the Ghari/Tsanyawa Constituency in Kano State, further strengthening the party's position in the region.

According to the official results announced early Sunday morning by Professor Muhammad Waziri of Bayero University, who served as the Returning Officer, APC candidate Garba Ya'u Gwarmai secured a total of 31,472 votes to claim the legislative seat.

The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) candidate, Yusuf Ali Maigado, came in second with 27,931 votes, trailing by a margin of 3,541 votes in what observers described as a keenly contested race.

The supplementary election became necessary after the initial poll in the constituency was declared inconclusive by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), requiring voters to return to the polls to determine their representative.

Professor Waziri made the official declaration around 6:10 a.m. on Sunday, bringing to conclusion the electoral process that has attracted significant attention across the state.

This victory adds to recent electoral successes for the APC, which has been working to consolidate its presence in northern Nigeria amid growing competition from newer political formations like the NNPP, which has established a considerable following in Kano State.

Political analysts note that the outcome of this supplementary election could have significant implications for the political landscape in Kano ahead of future electoral contests in the state.
