The Nigerian Air Force has conducted a devastating airstrike targeting a mass wedding ceremony attended by armed bandits at Asaula Hills in Yankuzo ward, Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

The precision operation, executed on Tuesday afternoon around 4:00 pm, was based on credible intelligence reports indicating that dozens of bandits from various enclaves were gathering at the rugged hilltop location for the event.

According to security sources, the strike was carried out by the air component of Operation FANSAR YANMA under Sector 2 Command of the Nigerian Air Force, catching the armed criminals completely by surprise at the height of their celebration.

Intelligence reports confirmed that over 100 motorcycles were spotted at the venue, with numerous heavily armed men in attendance. A security analyst familiar with the operation stated, "The wedding brought together fighters from Faskari and Kankara LGAs in Katsina State, and from across Zamfara."

The source further revealed, "Dozens were neutralised on the spot, while many others sustained critical injuries."

Local informants reported that at least 10 bodies were recovered by nightfall, while several others were burnt beyond recognition in the aftermath of the airstrike. Additionally, at least 33 injured fighters were reportedly transported for treatment to the Comprehensive Health Centre in Yankuzo and surrounding hamlets.

Intelligence sources have indicated that some of the injured bandits are currently receiving treatment from unqualified health workers in the area. Security agencies have called for mop-up operations around Yankuzo and other nearby recovery points to apprehend the remaining criminals.

This operation represents a significant blow to bandit networks operating across the northwestern region, disrupting their coordination and eliminating key fighters during what was meant to be a celebratory gathering.

The Nigerian Air Force continues to intensify its air campaigns against armed bandits in the northwest, targeting their hideouts, logistics networks, and gathering points as part of broader efforts to restore security to affected communities.
