The Lagos State Government has sealed Vaniti Club House, located on Adeola Odeku Street in Victoria Island, following persistent traffic violations including illegal parking and obstruction of public roadways.
The enforcement action was executed by officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), under the leadership of the agency's General Manager, Mr. Olalekan Bakare-Oki, working alongside the Rescue and Compliance Unit.
According to authorities, the closure came after numerous warnings and unsuccessful attempts to engage with the management of the establishment, which had become known for causing traffic congestion and creating hazardous conditions for road users through indiscriminate parking practices.
"The state's Transport Sector Reform Law clearly prohibits any act that obstructs public highways or endangers the safety of commuters," Bakare-Oki explained. "Vaniti Club House consistently ignored our warnings and refused to comply with basic regulations. This action was necessary to restore sanity and protect public safety."
The LASTMA General Manager characterized the situation as a "repeated and intentional breach" of traffic laws, emphasizing that similar establishments throughout Lagos would face stringent penalties if found violating regulations.
He further revealed that the crackdown on the club is part of a broader initiative by the state government to address unlawful utilization of public spaces by hospitality venues, particularly those converting public roads into private parking areas.
"This is not an isolated case. Our teams will ramp up surveillance and enforcement activities at lounges, event centres, and clubs across the state," he warned.
In a separate statement, LASTMA's Director of Public Affairs and Enlightenment, Mr. Adebayo Taofiq, confirmed that Vaniti Club House will remain sealed until its management demonstrates full and verifiable compliance with all traffic and public safety requirements.
The enforcement action highlights the government's increasing focus on maintaining order in Lagos' bustling commercial districts, where nightlife establishments often contribute to traffic congestion during peak hours.
