The All Progressives Congress (APC) has launched a scathing attack on former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, describing him as "the most confused and clueless politician in Nigeria's history" following his recent criticism of President Bola Tinubu's administration.
The verbal assault came through APC's National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, who responded to El-Rufai's warning to Nigerians against voting for President Tinubu in the 2027 elections.
El-Rufai, now a key member of the opposition coalition, had claimed during a meeting in Sokoto on Saturday, August 2, 2025, that President Tinubu would "destroy Nigeria if elected for a second term in 2027."
In a strongly-worded statement, Morka suggested that El-Rufai's criticism stems from his failed ministerial ambitions under the Tinubu administration. "His speedy fall from commanding heights to the political clown he has become needs forensic study," Morka stated.
The APC spokesperson further characterized El-Rufai's remarks as "another outburst of a waspish politician," adding that "El-Rufai and his partners in ADC are the most confused, clueless, rudderless and pitiful opposition politicians our country has ever known."
Political observers will recall that El-Rufai was initially tipped for a ministerial position in Tinubu's cabinet, but the Senate declined to confirm his nomination. Following this setback, El-Rufai left the APC, criticizing the party for what he described as a lack of internal democracy.
Morka's statement concluded with a particularly harsh assessment of El-Rufai and his political allies: "They bring nothing to the political table except their oversized ego, wild entitlement mentality, obscene desperation and predatory presidential ambitions."
This exchange highlights the growing tensions between the ruling APC and opposition figures as Nigeria moves closer to the 2027 election cycle, with former allies now positioning themselves as fierce critics of the administration.
