Special Adviser to the Governor of Cross River State on Inter-Party Affairs, Nkoyo Otu, has appealed to the leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to support the unity and progress of the state.

Nkoyo made the appeal during a visit with her team to the Deputy National Vice Chairman of ADC, Pastor Usani Usani, at his Calabar residence on Monday.

During the meeting, she emphasized the importance of collaboration between ruling and opposition parties to ensure peaceful and transparent electoral processes in the state.

"There is a need for all political parties—both ruling and opposition—to work together to ensure a peaceful and transparent electoral process," Nkoyo stated.

The Special Adviser also highlighted the significance of building democratic processes on the "Think Cross River" policy, pledging to use her office to promote peaceful coexistence and progressive alliances among political stakeholders.

In his response, Pastor Usani, a former Minister of Niger-Delta Affairs, endorsed the initiative and committed to working for the growth and sustainability of Cross River State and its commonwealth.

However, Usani emphasized the need for political actors to prioritize ideological loyalty over personal allegiances. "People need to be loyal to ideology rather than individuals if true political progress must be achieved," he remarked.

The former minister added that such a mindset shift would significantly improve the sustainability of political systems and reduce corruption rates in governance.

This engagement comes as part of broader efforts by Governor Otu's administration to foster inclusive governance and political harmony in Cross River State.
