The Abia State Chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has officially declared support for the former National Working Committee's decision to appoint David Mark as interim National Chairman and endorsed the ongoing coalition talks within the party.

This declaration came during an enlarged coalition meeting held on Saturday in Umuahia, which brought together ADC members and representatives from the college of coalition members from various political parties.

According to a communiqué released after the meeting, the Abia ADC confirmed that the interim National Working Committee of the coalition has recognized Iyke Nwoke as the Abia State interim Chairman and Okey Ezeala as the interim State Secretary.

The document, signed by former ADC governorship candidate Bishop Sunday Onuoha, Iyke Nwoke, and other party officials, also acknowledged Bishop Onuoha's significant efforts in unifying the party.

However, the communiqué expressed concern over some politicians who claim to be members of the ADC coalition while still maintaining membership in their previous political parties.

"The only valid means of joining the coalition ADC is by registering at the ward level and identifying with the interim leadership, not (by) grandstanding or social media speculation," the statement emphasized.

Speaking to journalists during the meeting, Iyke Nwoke, the interim chairman of ADC in Abia, revealed that numerous politicians in the state are currently seeking to join the ADC Coalition. He firmly stated that the party is not experiencing any factional divisions in Abia.

Nwoke expressed optimism about the party's future, predicting that the ongoing coalition talks in Abia would position the ADC to secure multiple elective positions in the state during the 2027 elections.

The expansion of the ADC coalition in Abia represents a significant development in the state's political landscape, potentially altering the balance of power ahead of the next electoral cycle.
