President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has commended religious leaders in Lagos State for their significant role in fostering harmony and peaceful coexistence among adherents of different faiths, describing their efforts as a fundamental pillar of stability in the state.
The President's commendation came during the ordination ceremony of Baba Aladura Prince Gbenga Adeniran-Aluko as the new spiritual head of The Saviour's Ministries Worldwide, Cherubim and Seraphim Church, Alausa, Ikeja.
Represented by Bishop Stephen T. V. Adegbite, Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC), President Tinubu expressed gratitude for the prayers and support religious bodies have offered to his administration.
"I congratulate Baba Aladura Gbenga Adeniran-Aluko on this momentous occasion, which comes at a time when the church requires visionary and transformative leadership," the President stated through his representative.
He further emphasized the exemplary interfaith relations in Lagos, saying, "As a citizen of Lagos, I commend all religious leaders in this state for being together and keeping the state peaceful without religious bigotry. The peace recorded so far in this state is noteworthy and I commend all religious leaders, and particularly the state government for the sustenance of this peaceful co-existence."
Addressing the current economic challenges facing the nation, President Tinubu assured Nigerians that the temporary hardship being experienced would soon give way to relief, citing the various reforms his government is implementing.
The President also called on Nigerians, particularly the faithful across all denominations, to continue interceding for the success of governments at all levels, adding that their prayers remain vital to the nation's progress and development.
The ordination ceremony brought together religious leaders from various denominations, highlighting the interfaith harmony that Lagos has become known for in recent years.
