Prominent leaders from Northern Nigeria have expressed satisfaction with President Bola Tinubu's performance on infrastructural development in the region, stating that the President has fulfilled promises made during the 2023 presidential election campaign.
These sentiments were shared during a two-day interactive session on government-citizen engagement, organized by the Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation in Kaduna on July 29-30, 2025.
According to a communiqué issued after the meeting and signed by the foundation's Director-General, Engr. Abubakar Gambo Umar, the Northern leaders specifically commended several key infrastructure projects including highways, the Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano (AKK) gas pipeline, oil exploration activities at Kolmani, and rural irrigation schemes.
"The summit concluded that Northern Nigeria acknowledges and commends the administration's high performance in fulfilling its electoral promises in many areas and also appreciates subsisting challenges," the communiqué stated.
The document further highlighted that "The government demonstrated openness to dialogue and continuous citizen engagement. The administration's delivery of electoral promises in security, infrastructure, and economic reforms was high and commendable. Northern Nigeria contributes significantly to national stability, development, and electoral outcomes."
The $2.8 billion AKK gas pipeline project, one of the initiatives praised by the Northern leaders, is reportedly 83 percent complete according to the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited's July monthly report. The state-owned oil firm has also recently announced the successful drilling of four oil wells in the Kolmani area of Bauchi State.
This positive assessment from Northern leaders comes at a time when the administration continues to implement its infrastructure development agenda across various regions of the country, with particular attention to projects that could stimulate economic growth and improve living conditions in the North.
