The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has promised the Super Falcons a substantial financial reward if they emerge victorious against hosts Morocco in the final of the 2024 Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

According to renowned journalist Osasu Obayiuwana, the NFF has agreed to pay the Super Falcons 30% of the $1 million prize money that the Confederation of African Football (CAF) will award to the tournament champions.

The highly anticipated final is scheduled to take place tonight at the Olympic Stadium in Rabat, with kickoff set for 9 PM Nigerian time. The Super Falcons are aiming to secure their record-extending 10th WAFCON title, further cementing their status as the most successful team in the competition's history.

Morocco, playing in front of their home crowd, will be appearing in their second consecutive WAFCON final. The Atlas Lionesses narrowly lost 2-1 to South Africa's Banyana Banyana in the 2022 edition and will be eager to go one step further this time.

The match presents a significant challenge for Nigeria, as they must overcome not only a strong Moroccan side but also the passionate home support. However, the financial incentive adds extra motivation for the Super Falcons to perform at their best.

President Bola Tinubu has also rallied behind the team, urging them to "make us proud" in the final showdown. His message reflects the national importance attached to this fixture as Nigeria seeks to reassert its dominance in women's football across the continent.

There are concerns regarding the fitness of key player Francisca Ordega, who remains doubtful for the final due to injury. Coach Madugu has also made some tactical decisions, including dropping former Liverpool forward Rinsola Babajide from the squad.

Interestingly, Ghana's coach Björkegren has tipped Nigeria to overcome Morocco despite the home advantage, highlighting the respect the Super Falcons command across the continent.
