A prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adamu Garba, has raised concerns that President Bola Tinubu is being surrounded by sycophants who are painting an unrealistic picture of Nigeria's current situation and the ruling party's stability.

Garba, a former presidential aspirant, made these remarks on Tuesday while appearing as a guest on Channels Television's Politics Today program, where he addressed the challenges facing the ruling party following the controversial resignation of Abdullahi Ganduje as APC National Chairman.

"They (ADC coalition) hope for our loss, and that is why we need to be serious. That is the more reason why we need to be very sincere with ourselves and make sure that the leadership of the party is somebody that is truthful and capable of listening to criticisms and accepting the facts without any flattery, without any sycophancy because I believe there is a lot of sycophants around the president; people are telling him that things are okay – things are not okay," he stated.

The APC chieftain specifically warned about the opposition coalition formed under the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), describing them as "vultures poised to feast on APC and exploit the weakness of the ruling party" amid its internal challenges.

Garba also highlighted the significant membership decline the APC has experienced across northern Nigeria following the death of former President Muhammadu Buhari, noting that this attrition was not unexpected given the vacuum left by Buhari's passing.

His comments come at a critical time for the ruling party, which has been dealing with leadership challenges and internal conflicts that threaten its cohesion ahead of future electoral contests.

This is not the first time Garba has been vocal about party affairs. He previously called on the Senate to stop what he described as "unnecessary dramatization" involving Senator Natasha, demonstrating his willingness to address controversial issues within Nigeria's political landscape.

The timing of Garba's comments is particularly significant as the opposition appears to be reorganizing to challenge the APC's dominance in Nigerian politics, while the ruling party simultaneously grapples with internal restructuring following key leadership changes.
