Abia State Governor Alex Otti has approved the appointment of members to the newly established Abia State Homeland Security Board as part of his administration's strategic efforts to combat insecurity in the state.

The board, which features several retired military officers in key positions, will be chaired by Brigadier General N.V.U. Nnorom (Rtd.), while Colonel Chidi Kalu Ukoha (Rtd.) will serve as the General Manager and Chief Executive Officer.

Other appointed members include Mr. Chukwunenye Alajemba, the Governor's Senior Special Assistant on Homeland Security; Assistant Commissioner of Police Allwell Okwuonu (Rtd.); and Ngozi Ula Ukoha. Mrs. Ugo Chidi Onyeabor has been appointed to serve as the Secretary of the Board.

The appointments were officially announced by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Kenneth Kalu, according to a statement released on Tuesday.

This development comes shortly after the Abia State government launched a Security Trust Fund aimed at raising financial resources to support ongoing efforts against criminal elements operating within the state.

The establishment of the Homeland Security Board represents a significant step in Governor Otti's comprehensive security strategy, leveraging the expertise of retired military personnel to address security challenges facing the state.

Political analysts view this move as part of the governor's broader commitment to creating a safer environment for residents and businesses in Abia State, which could potentially attract more investment to the region.
