Former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi has publicly declared his frustration with President Bola Tinubu's administration, citing hunger and economic hardship as major concerns.
Speaking to supporters who welcomed him in Port Harcourt, Rivers State on Wednesday, Amaechi, a prominent member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition, expressed his dissatisfaction with the current state of affairs in the country.
"If you are not tired of President Tinubu, I am tired. If you are not hungry, I am hungry," Amaechi told the crowd of supporters who had gathered to receive him in the Rivers State capital.
The former Rivers State governor highlighted the economic challenges facing Nigerians, particularly pointing to the soaring fuel costs that have affected both the wealthy and poor citizens alike.
"If rich men are spending N4 million a month on fuel, only God knows how the poor are surviving," he remarked, questioning the sustainability of the current economic situation for ordinary Nigerians.
Amaechi further criticized President Tinubu's approach to governance, claiming that the president has made life unbearable for citizens. "The President says he is not here to make you happy. The ADC is here to make you happy," he added, positioning his party as an alternative to the current administration.
The statement comes amid growing concerns about Nigeria's economic situation, with inflation rates soaring and many citizens struggling to cope with the high cost of living following fuel subsidy removal and other economic policies implemented under the Tinubu administration.
Amaechi's return to Rivers State and his critical stance against the federal government signals intensifying political activities as opposition figures begin to position themselves ahead of future electoral contests.
