Former US President Donald Trump has shared an AI-generated video depicting his predecessor, Barack Obama, being arrested by Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) agents. The controversial video was posted on Trump's Truth Social account on July 22, 2025.
The video's release follows recent allegations by Tulsi Gabbard, Director of National Intelligence, claiming that Obama administration officials had fabricated intelligence suggesting Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election—the election in which Trump defeated Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton.
According to reports, Gabbard stated that she was submitting evidence to the Justice Department for potential criminal referrals related to these allegations.
The manipulated video begins with authentic clips of Democratic leaders, including Obama and former President Joe Biden, stating that "no one is above the law." It then transitions to a doctored version of an Oval Office meeting from November 2016 between then-President Obama and President-elect Trump, which occurred shortly after Trump's electoral victory.
In the altered footage, FBI agents are shown bursting into the meeting, forcing Obama to kneel, and placing him in handcuffs while Trump observes with a smile.
This incident marks another chapter in the ongoing political tensions between Trump and his predecessors, raising concerns about the use of AI-generated content in political discourse and its potential impact on public perception.
The video's release comes amid other controversial moves by the Trump administration, including reported plans for the United States to exit UNESCO.
