The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has officially announced dates for its 101st National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, scheduled to take place from Wednesday, July 23 to Friday, July 25, 2025, amid ongoing internal party crisis.

According to a statement signed by the PDP National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Debo Ologunagba, the three-day meeting will be held at the party's National Secretariat in Abuja, commencing at 2:00 pm daily.

The statement, shared on X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday, emphasized that the meeting aligns with the party's internal processes as outlined in Section 31(1) of the PDP Constitution (as amended in 2017).

Key Stakeholders Expected to Attend

The party has extended invitations to a comprehensive list of stakeholders, including "the National Chairman, serving and former Presidents and Vice Presidents of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (if they are members of the Party), the Chairman and Secretary of the Board of Trustees (BoT), and all other BoT members," the statement noted.

Additional invitees include principal officers of the National Assembly who are PDP members, comprising not more than 18 serving Senators and 24 House of Representatives members from across the country, all PDP governors, all National Officers of the Party, state chairmen, six ex-officio members, and other former key office holders who remain party members.

The timing of this high-level meeting is significant as it comes amid ongoing internal challenges within Nigeria's main opposition party, which has been grappling with leadership disputes and factional interests in recent months.

Political analysts suggest that the upcoming NEC meeting may be crucial for resolving internal conflicts and charting a unified course ahead of future electoral contests. The gathering represents one of the most comprehensive assemblies of PDP leadership in recent times.

While the official agenda has not been fully disclosed, sources close to the party indicate that discussions may center on reconciliation efforts, strategic positioning, and organizational restructuring to strengthen the party's standing on the national political landscape.
