Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, has formally announced her intention to resume her legislative duties at the Senate on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, in accordance with a recent court judgment.

The senator's decision comes despite an ongoing appeal by Senate President Godswill Akpabio challenging the court ruling that invalidated her suspension.

According to reports, Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan has already communicated her planned resumption to the Senate through an official letter.

"I have pretty much two months more before the six months expire. However, I have written to the Senate again telling them that I'm resuming on the 22nd, which is on Tuesday, by the special grace of God," she stated.

The senator further clarified the legal basis for her return, saying, "I will be there, because the court did make the decision on that. Now, they argue that it's an order. It's not an order; it is a decision."

Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan expressed concern that her suspension from the Red Chamber has significantly impeded her legislative responsibilities, particularly limiting her ability to sponsor bills and motions on the Senate floor—key functions of her role as an elected representative.

The development marks the latest chapter in the ongoing dispute between the senator and Senate leadership, with implications for legislative representation for the people of Kogi Central.

This situation unfolds as the National Assembly Clerk reportedly advised the senator to await Senate action on her recall, highlighting the procedural complexities surrounding her return.
