Organisers of Nigeria's most popular reality TV show, Big Brother Naija, have announced plans to premiere its milestone 10th season this July, featuring a record-breaking N150 million grand prize.
At a press briefing held on Wednesday, the show's organisers revealed that the prize money for this season will surpass all previous rewards since the show's inception in 2006, setting a new benchmark in Nigerian reality television.
Fan-favorite Ebuka Obi-Uchendu will return as host for the upcoming season, which will kick off with a special two-day launch event. During the press briefing, Obi-Uchendu highlighted the show's impressive achievements over its nine previous seasons, including featuring 197 housemates, broadcasting 709 days of content, and awarding N637 million in prizes.
The announcement comes following the success of Season 9's "No Loose Guard" edition, which introduced an innovative format requiring contestants to audition and enter the house in pairs before later competing as individuals. That season made history when Kellyrae became the first married winner of the show, claiming the N100 million prize.
While specific details about the theme and format of Season 10 remain under wraps, the significant prize increase suggests viewers can expect bigger twists and more intense competition than ever before.
BBNaija has grown to become one of Africa's most-watched television programs, consistently driving social media conversations and launching the careers of numerous entertainment personalities across Nigeria.
