Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has confirmed that England winger Noni Madueke has decided to leave the club, with a move to Arsenal now in the final stages.
The 22-year-old is on the verge of completing a transfer to the North London club after the Premier League rivals agreed on a fee of approximately £52 million.
Speaking about the impending transfer, Maresca emphasized that Madueke was not forced out of Stamford Bridge, but rather made the decision himself to seek a move away from the Blues.
"If a player wants to leave, then in the end it is difficult for the club and manager. And yes, Noni decided to leave," Maresca stated.
"No one said to Noni he has to leave. It was his own decision. If he is happy, we are happy."
According to reports, Madueke has already returned to the UK where he will undergo medical examinations with Arsenal before finalizing the transfer.
The move represents another significant transfer between the London rivals, following Kai Havertz's switch from Chelsea to Arsenal last summer.
Madueke joined Chelsea from PSV Eindhoven in January 2023 for a reported £29 million fee. During his time at Stamford Bridge, he made 45 appearances across all competitions, scoring 10 goals.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is believed to be keen on strengthening his attacking options ahead of the new season as the Gunners aim to challenge for the Premier League title once again.
