Arsenal have finally reached an agreement with Sporting CP for the transfer of striker Viktor Gyokeres in a deal worth approximately £55 million (€63.5 million) plus €10 million in performance-related add-ons.

According to renowned football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the breakthrough in negotiations came after Gyokeres' agent agreed to waive his commission fee, which had been a potential stumbling block in finalizing the transfer.

"The deal between Arsenal and Sporting for Viktor Gyökeres is now being sealed tonight with all parties involved," Romano confirmed on social media. "After agent's decision to reduce his 10% compensation, Arsenal will pay initial fee worth €63.5m plus €10m add-ons being completed."

This transfer represents a significant milestone for Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta, who has been actively seeking to strengthen his attacking options throughout the summer transfer window. The Gunners had previously shown interest in RB Leipzig forward Benjamin Sesko, but complications in negotiations led the North London club to prioritize Gyokeres as their primary target.

The Swedish international's arrival addresses Arsenal's need for a clinical finisher as they aim to mount a serious challenge for the Premier League title in the upcoming 2025/26 season. Gyokeres has been in impressive form for Sporting CP, establishing himself as one of Europe's most prolific goalscorers.

The transfer saga had intensified in recent weeks, with Gyokeres reportedly skipping pre-season training with Sporting CP as speculation about his future continued to mount. This development marks Arsenal's most significant acquisition of the current transfer window.
