Paul Ibe, a media aide to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has raised concerns over the whereabouts of President Bola Tinubu following the conclusion of the BRICS summit in Brazil.
According to Ibe, President Tinubu's last known public engagement was at the 17th BRICS summit in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, which concluded three days ago. The President had commenced a scheduled two-nation visit to Saint Lucia and Brazil on June 28, 2025.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Ibe expressed the concerns of many Nigerians regarding the President's current location, noting that there has been no official communication from the presidency about Tinubu's itinerary since the summit ended.
"Many concerned Nigerians are asking where President Bola Tinubu is since the conclusion of the BRICS Summit in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil," Ibe wrote. "The 17th BRICS Summit ended 3 days ago. There is no other engagement on his itinerary, according to the press statement preceding his trip, raising concerns about his whereabouts. However, mum is the word."
In what appears to be a sarcastic remark, Ibe questioned, "Is it possible that the Nigerian President's aircraft is passing through a zone where time is standing still?"
The presidency had earlier announced that President Tinubu would be attending the BRICS summit in Brazil, but there has been no further update on his schedule or return to Nigeria since the conclusion of the event.
This development comes amid growing concerns from various quarters about transparency in presidential movements and activities. The presidency has yet to respond to these inquiries about the President's current location and expected return date.
