President Bola Tinubu is scheduled to return to Nigeria on Saturday after concluding his two-week diplomatic tour to Saint Lucia and Brazil, according to a statement from presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga.

The President departed Abuja on Saturday, June 28, 2025, for a two-nation visit aimed at strengthening Nigeria's international relations and participation in global economic forums.

Tinubu's first stop was Saint Lucia, where he conducted a state visit designed to deepen Nigeria's engagement with Caribbean nations and bolster South-South cooperation. This diplomatic initiative reflects Nigeria's ongoing efforts to expand its influence and partnerships beyond traditional allies.

Following his engagements in Saint Lucia, the President departed on July 4th for Brazil to attend the 2025 BRICS Summit held from July 6-7. The BRICS forum, comprising Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, has become an increasingly important platform for emerging economies to coordinate on global economic and development issues.

Nigeria's participation in the BRICS Summit underscores the administration's focus on positioning the country strategically within influential international economic blocs. The President's attendance comes at a time when BRICS nations are working to enhance their collective influence in global economic governance.

During the President's absence, Vice President Kashim Shettima represented Nigeria at São Tomé and Príncipe's independence celebration, highlighting the administration's commitment to maintaining diplomatic engagements across Africa even while the President was abroad.

The President's return is expected to be followed by briefings on the outcomes of his diplomatic engagements and their implications for Nigeria's foreign policy and economic partnerships.
