Former presidential candidate and Labour Party leader, Peter Obi, has expressed profound grief following the death of Nigeria's former President Muhammadu Buhari, who passed away in London on Sunday.
In a heartfelt statement shared via his official X handle, Obi described Buhari's passing as a moment of national sorrow that extends beyond the late president's immediate family and associates to all Nigerians.
"President Buhari always comported himself in a dignified manner as a leader," Obi remarked, highlighting the former president's demeanor throughout his tenure.
The Labour Party leader extended his sincere condolences to Buhari's wife, children, and extended family, as well as to all Nigerians mourning the significant loss.
In his tribute, Obi offered prayers for the deceased: "May Almighty Allah, Most Gracious and Most Merciful, forgive President Buhari's shortcomings, reward his efforts in service to the nation, and grant him Aljannatul Firdaus. Ameen."
