Armed bandits have launched a deadly attack on two villages in Bungudu Local Government Area of Zamfara State, killing a local blacksmith and abducting 25 people, including women and children.

According to security analyst Zagazola Makama, the attack occurred around 10:30 p.m. on Friday night when the heavily armed assailants stormed Dogon Daji village in Nahuche District.

"The gunmen, who were armed with AK-47 rifles and other dangerous weapons, abducted 25 residents and rustled several cattle during the attack," Makama reported.

Among the casualties was Muhammadu Kasu, a respected local blacksmith known in the community for repairing hunting rifles. The attackers also stole a motorcycle before moving to their next target.

The bandits then proceeded to Danguro village within the same local government area, where they killed another resident identified as Aminu Abubakar. They also made away with five motorcycles before escaping to an unknown location.

Security forces, including troops of Operation FANSAN YANMA, later arrived at the scene and confirmed the incident. Authorities have launched operations to rescue the abducted victims and recover the stolen livestock.

This attack adds to the growing security concerns in Zamfara State, which has been grappling with banditry and kidnapping for ransom in recent years. The northwestern state continues to face significant security challenges despite military operations in the region.

Local communities have repeatedly called for increased security presence and more effective measures to combat the rising wave of banditry in the area.
