Former Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric has opened up about how he wishes to be remembered following his departure from the Spanish giants after a trophy-laden career at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The 39-year-old Croatian international left Real Madrid after the club's recent elimination from the FIFA Club World Cup at the hands of Paris Saint-Germain. The Los Blancos had decided not to renew his contract following the conclusion of last season.

In a heartfelt interview with Real Madrid TV, Modric reflected on his legacy: "I have never thought about how I would like to be remembered. However people want to remember me. As a good person, first of all. And as a player who has always given my all, who has respected everyone, opponents, team-mates, and fans; as a player who has always given everything for Real Madrid."

Modric's illustrious career at Real Madrid saw him win six UEFA Champions League titles among numerous other trophies, including multiple LaLiga championships. His final appearance for the club came in the Club World Cup match against PSG.

The veteran midfielder is now set to begin a new chapter in his career with AC Milan after signing a one-year deal with the Serie A giants. He is expected to join the Italian club in the coming days, bringing his wealth of experience and technical brilliance to the San Siro.

Modric's departure marks the end of an era for Real Madrid, where his vision, passing ability, and leadership qualities made him one of the most respected figures in the club's recent history.
