Former Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric has opened up about how he wishes to be remembered following his departure from the Spanish giants after a trophy-laden career at the Santiago Bernabeu.
The 39-year-old Croatian international left Real Madrid after the club's recent elimination from the FIFA Club World Cup at the hands of Paris Saint-Germain. The Los Blancos had opted not to renew his contract following the conclusion of last season.
In a recent interview with Real Madrid TV, Modric reflected on his legacy at the club where he spent over a decade of his career.
"I have never thought about how I would like to be remembered," Modric said. "However people want to remember me. As a good person, first of all. And as a player who has always given my all, who has respected everyone, opponents, team-mates, and fans; as a player who has always given everything for Real Madrid."
The veteran midfielder played his final match for Real Madrid in the Club World Cup against PSG, bringing an end to a remarkable chapter that saw him win six UEFA Champions League titles and numerous other trophies including multiple LaLiga championships.
Following his departure from Madrid, Modric has secured a move to Italian giants AC Milan, signing a one-year deal with the Serie A club. He is expected to join his new teammates in the coming days as he embarks on a new challenge in his illustrious career.
Modric's exit marks the end of an era for Real Madrid, where his technical brilliance, vision, and leadership qualities made him one of the club's most influential players during a period of unprecedented European success.
