Nigeria's First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, has called for the adoption of innovative solutions to address emerging challenges facing vulnerable populations worldwide during her address at the 3rd Annual Global First Ladies Alliance Academy in New York.

Speaking at the prestigious gathering, Mrs. Tinubu highlighted her Renewed Hope Initiative as a key vehicle for empowering women and youth to achieve better lives for Nigerian families.

"It is quite challenging striking a balance because what you do will either compliment your husband or be a burden to him. So do what you can and do it right," she advised fellow First Ladies.

Mrs. Tinubu emphasized the importance of even small contributions, stating, "Don't be afraid to give your little. That little could be a life saver for someone. Be bold to confront your challenges and that is what we are doing and we are beginning to see the impact gradually."

Global Representation at the Alliance

The high-profile event featured several prominent First Ladies including Ana Dias Lourenco of Angola, Anna Hakobyan of Armenia, Rossana Briceno of Belize, Lucrecia Peinado of Guatemala, Eliza Reid of Iceland, Monica Chakwera of Malawi, Gueta Chapo of Mozambique, Maricel de Mulino of Panama, and Fatima Maada Bio of Sierra Leone.

Dr. Cora Neumann, founder of the Alliance and a Montana state senator, emphasized to participants that their leadership is needed beyond their time in office. "Your ideas, challenges and insights have shaped every element of this experience and we welcome and expect you to continue shaping it with us," Neumann remarked.

"Together you are setting the global standard for what it means to be an effective First Partner-and collectively, you represent the hopes and needs of millions," she added, urging the First Ladies to exemplify leadership through the heart.

Academy's Focus and Future Addresses

The academy, organized by the Global First Ladies Alliance in collaboration with Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health, serves as an executive leadership training program designed to sharpen members' focus and provide additional support.

Mrs. Tinubu is expected to deliver a special address in the coming days, highlighting her transformative interventions for children, women, and youth in Nigeria.

The academy aims to strengthen participants' leadership skills, enhance their impact and office efficiency, and build a global leadership community among First Ladies.
