The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has officially distanced itself from a list of purportedly appointed state chairmen currently circulating on social media platforms, warning members and the public to be vigilant against misinformation.
In a statement signed by ADC's National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, the party emphasized that it has not appointed any state chairmen as claimed in the widely shared social media posts.
"ADC wishes to make it known to the public that the party is not aware of any appointment of state chairmen as being circulated on the social media space," Abdullahi stated in the official communication.
The party urged Nigerians to verify all information through its official channels, specifically directing the public to the National Publicity Secretary's X (formerly Twitter) handle, @BolajiADC, for authentic party communications.
"Any information that does not emanate from the appropriate communication channels of the party and verified on the X (formerly Twitter) page of the National Publicity Secretary should be disregarded," the statement further clarified.
Warning Against Fraudulent Registration Schemes
In addition to the fake appointments, the ADC also strongly condemned reports of fictitious online registration payment platforms allegedly set up in the party's name.
Abdullahi warned that these platforms were created by fraudsters attempting to swindle unsuspecting Nigerians of their money under the guise of party registration.
"The party also dismissed and condemned in strong terms the information that some persons have set up fictitious online platforms to swindle unsuspecting Nigerians of their hard-earned money under the guise of registering them to the party," he stated.
The ADC emphasized that proper channels for party activities, including registration, would be made available to the general public through official means.
"The ADC cautions Nigerians to be wary of such fraudulent acts and consult widely within the appropriate channels which will be made available to the general public on the activities of the ADC and the coalition of opposition political parties," Abdullahi added.
This clarification comes amid increasing political activities as parties prepare for future electoral contests, with the ADC positioning itself as a key player in the coalition of opposition political parties.
