Popular Nollywood actor and filmmaker, Yul Edochie, has urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to remain focused on addressing Nigeria's pressing economic challenges rather than being distracted by political conversations surrounding the 2027 general elections.

In a direct appeal shared on his Instagram page, Edochie emphasized that Nigeria is currently grappling with severe challenges, particularly the escalating cost of living and worsening insecurity situation across the country.

"To my dear President, His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, please don't let politicians distract you with 2027. We're still in 2025. High cost of living and high rate of insecurity are still ravaging Nigerians. These two remain the most pressing issues to deal with. May God lead you, sir," the actor wrote in his message.

Edochie, who has previously expressed support for President Tinubu's administration, recently also suggested that the government should consider reviving the cashless policy introduced by former President Muhammadu Buhari. According to the actor, the policy helped reduce criminal activities and curbed the high cost of living during its implementation.

Public Reactions to Edochie's Appeal

The actor's message to the President has generated mixed reactions from Nigerians on social media. While some commended him for speaking up about the country's economic challenges, others questioned his previous support for the administration.

One user commented, "Good thoughts but sadly, your dear president will not listen," while another stated, "Best thing you have done this year."

Some responses were more critical, with one follower writing, "I do not have a problem with you, but you see all the curses Nigeria is raining on Tinubu you must share inside," suggesting that supporters of the administration should also bear responsibility for its perceived shortcomings.

Another user questioned Edochie's current stance, asking, "Are you not with him again? I thought you are with him," highlighting the perception that the actor might be distancing himself from his previous support for the President.

The actor's appeal comes at a time when many Nigerians are experiencing significant economic hardship, with inflation rates soaring and security challenges persisting across various regions of the country.
