Lere Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media to the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, has launched a scathing attack on Senator Ireti Kingibe, accusing her of refusing to pay her aides' salaries.

The accusations came in a statement released on Tuesday in response to Senator Kingibe's recent criticism of Wike's leadership style as FCT Minister.

Senator Kingibe had appeared on a television program where she claimed that the FCT Minister was disconnected from the needs of FCT residents, stating, "It's not just about development, Wike's conduct is fuelling resentment among the FCT people."

In his response, Olayinka made serious allegations about Senator Kingibe's personal conduct and financial dealings. "As at today, we know how many of Senator Ireti Kingibe's aides that have resigned owing to non-payment of their salary and immoral acts," Olayinka stated.

The FCT Minister's aide further alleged that one of Kingibe's staff members resigned because the Senator "allegedly had an immoral relationship with her boyfriend." He also made references to her previous marriage to Ambassador Gana Kingibe, a former Secretary to the Government of the Federation.

Olayinka challenged the Senator to explain what she did with an alleged "envelope of N3 billion" awarded to her last year and questioned how many contracts for constituency projects she had allegedly sold for "between 15 and 20 percent of the contract value."

Defending his principal, Olayinka assured that Minister Wike would not be distracted by the criticism, emphasizing the administration's focus on infrastructure development in both the FCT city center and satellite towns.

"Just last week Friday, commissioning of 16 projects to commemorate the second year of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's administration was concluded, and by this time next year, more projects would have been commissioned," he added.

This public spat highlights the growing tension between key political figures in the Federal Capital Territory, as both continue to trade accusations amid ongoing development efforts in the nation's capital.
