Evans Ogbonda has committed his future to former Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) champions Rangers International FC by signing a new two-year contract extension with the Flying Antelopes.

The 22-year-old defender, who joined Rangers from Bendel Insurance in 2024, has established himself as a regular starter in Fidelis Ilechukwu's squad during the previous campaign.

Ogbonda's contract extension represents a significant boost for Rangers as they aim to strengthen their squad ahead of the upcoming 2025/26 NPFL season, which is scheduled to kick off on Friday, August 22.

Sources close to the club indicate that Rangers are expected to make additional quality signings in the coming weeks as they look to build on their performance from last season and mount a serious title challenge.

The Enugu-based club has been active in the transfer market, with Ogbonda's renewal following reports that the Flying Antelopes have also secured the signature of promising forward Oloruntoba on a two-year deal.

This contract extension comes at a time when several NPFL clubs are undergoing significant squad restructuring. Plateau United recently parted ways with key players Itodo, Ambrose, and Henlong, while Bendel Insurance bid farewell to Oritsemeyi.
