The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, has explained that the Lagos State Neighborhood Safety Corps (LNSC) was established to complement the efforts of the police and other security agencies in the state.
Speaking at The Expatriates Business Awards (TEBA), Obasa emphasized that the security outfit was created to provide valuable intelligence for crime prevention and facilitate the arrest of perpetrators of criminal activities.
According to a statement released on Tuesday, the Speaker highlighted the Assembly's numerous efforts to ensure the safety and security of both Nigerians and foreigners residing in Lagos State.
"We also created the Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Corps to assist and complement the police by providing valuable intelligence for crime prevention and facilitating the arrest of perpetrators of criminal activities in the state," Obasa stated.
The Speaker further noted that the Assembly has enacted various laws that have created an enabling environment for businesses to thrive, attract investments, and foster sustainable economic growth in Lagos.
"As a centre for commerce, industry and innovation, we have built a state where expats report a high quality of life, enjoying many luxuries not accessible back at home, and businesses and tourism thrive," he added.
The Lagos State Neighborhood Safety Corps has become an integral part of the state's security architecture, working alongside conventional security agencies to maintain law and order in various communities across the state.
