Nigerian Afrobeats superstar Davido has responded to critics who troll him for flaunting his father's private jets, declaring that he would return as a vulcaniser in his next life.
The singer, who is the son of billionaire businessman Adedeji Adeleke, made this statement while addressing netizens who frequently criticize his privileged background and access to wealth.
In a post on his X (formerly Twitter) handle, Davido wrote: "This free jet wey I dey fly all around the world dey really pain una. I'm sorry it's my birth right. In my next life, I go come back as vulcaniser. Ma binu."
The statement translates to him suggesting that his critics are pained by his ability to fly private jets freely around the world, which he describes as his birthright, while promising to return as a vulcaniser (tire repair technician) in his next life.
This is not the first time the "Timeless" album creator has addressed criticism about his wealthy background. Davido has previously expressed frustration about being "hated" in the music industry because of his family's wealth, lamenting that despite carving a niche for himself through hard work, many still attribute his success solely to his privileged background.
The Afrobeats star has consistently defended his achievements in the music industry, maintaining that his success comes from talent and dedication, not just family connections.
Davido, whose real name is David Adeleke, has built a global music career with numerous hit songs and international collaborations, cementing his place as one of Africa's most successful music exports despite the persistent criticism about his background.
