Operatives of the Ondo State Police Command have arrested three suspects in connection with the death of a commercial sex worker at a brothel in Akure, following a dispute over a service refund.

The incident occurred at a popular brothel in the Cathedral area of Akure, the Ondo State capital, where a customer had demanded a refund of his N15,000 payment after claiming the sex worker failed to satisfy his desires.

How the Incident Unfolded

According to Olayinka Ayanlade, the Police Public Relations Officer in Ondo State, the sex worker had complained of tiredness during the sexual activity, which angered the customer. This led to a heated altercation involving the brothel manager, the deceased, the customer, and friends he had invited to help recover his money.

"At approximately 10 am on June 29, the manager of the brothel reported to the station under the jurisdiction of A Division that there had been a violent altercation between a sex worker and a male customer earlier that morning. The disagreement began when the sex worker reportedly complained of sudden weakness during an encounter and could no longer continue providing the agreed services," Ayanlade stated.

Police Response and Aftermath

The police spokesperson further explained that officers acted swiftly upon receiving the report. While the victim was being rushed to a nearby hospital in the Lafe area, police simultaneously arrested three suspects involved in the incident.

Unfortunately, the victim was later referred to the Police Hospital in Akure where she was declared dead on arrival by medical personnel. Her body has since been deposited at the State Specialist Hospital morgue for autopsy.

Authorities have not yet released the identities of the suspects or the deceased as investigations continue into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
