Rivers State women, under the umbrella of Rivers Women Unite for Sim (RWUS), have declared their unwavering support for suspended Governor Siminalayi Fubara, vowing to follow him through any political transition.

The declaration came during a thanksgiving service held on Sunday in Port Harcourt, celebrating the recent reconciliation between Governor Fubara and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

Dressed in pink attire symbolizing unity and joy, the women sang, danced, and offered prayers of gratitude for what they described as a long-awaited return to peace in Rivers State.

A Welcome Development for Rivers State

The women's group hailed the reconciliation as a significant turning point for political stability in Rivers State. They expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Fubara, and Minister Wike for prioritizing the state's interests above personal differences.

Florence Itamunoala, a retired Director at the Ministry of Justice and one of the group's leaders, expressed confidence in Fubara's leadership: "He has asked us to embrace peace, and we will follow him anywhere. We believe in his leadership, and we know this reconciliation is for the good of the Rivers people."

Pastor Nancy Nwankwo, the spiritual leader of RWUS, led prayers for the Governor's return to office, expressing optimism that the political turbulence would soon be behind the state.

More Than a Political Milestone

The women described the peace deal as not merely a political achievement but a spiritual victory for Rivers State. They called on residents to remain calm and united as the state charts a new course forward under the reconciliation agreement.

This development comes amid ongoing political tensions in Rivers State, with Governor Fubara recently urging his supporters to embrace the peace deal with Wike, stating that "no sacrifice is too big for peace."

The reconciliation between Fubara and Wike, facilitated by President Tinubu, marks a potential end to months of political crisis that has gripped Rivers State, affecting governance and development initiatives.
